Job Description
As the company continues its expansion into 2026 and beyond, it is seeking a high-calibre, results-driven Business Development Manager to lead its Energy Efficiency function in Kenya. This is a dynamic, highimpact role offering the opportunity to drive business growth, build strong client relationships, and contribute meaningfully to sustainability and climate action within one of Africa’s fastest-growing energy markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in energy efficiency across commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.
Own the full end-to-end sales cycle
Develop and present tailored, value-driven energy solutions, including ESCO performance contracts, ROI models, measurement & verification (M&V) frameworks, and financing structures aligned with sustainable technologies.
Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with both new and existing clients, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor on energy optimization, cost reduction, regulatory compliance, and performance-based efficiency solutions.
Support seamless client onboarding and partner closely with delivery teams to drive retention, client satisfaction, and upsell opportunities.
Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, regulatory developments, competitive dynamics, and green financing opportunities within Kenya’s energy and sustainability landscape.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and marketing teams to align commercial strategies with technical capabilities, financing models, and service delivery, ensuring integrated and high-impact client solutions.
Monitor and report on sales performance, pipeline health, and forecast accuracy using CRM tools. Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Represent the organization as a brand ambassador by promoting energy efficiency,
sustainability, and innovative financing models at industry events, conferences, and client
engagements.

Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ B2B sales experience managing high-value deals, preferably within energy, sustainability, renewables, technology, or engineering sectors, with a proven track record of exceeding targets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical and financial solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience in consultative selling and building long-term client relationships, delivering tailored solutions that drive client value and retention.
- Experience with ESCO models, including performance contracting, measurement & verification (M&V), and green financing structures; relevant certification (e.g., CMVP®) is an added advantage.
- Education & Technical Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) for effective pipeline management, reporting, and forecasting.
- Experience with cold outreach tools, email automation, and social selling platforms to support lead generation and client engagement.
